And you think YOUR high-speed
internet hook-up was tough?

Let's move to Ohio to take care of dad!
Leaving Virginia Beach.

Heading through beautiful West Virginia.

Arriving at the family farm in western Ohio

Driving up the 1/4 mile lane.

Still driving.

Still driving.

Finally here!

Let's unload Molly, my car.

Using the hillside makes the ramps straighter.

Molly's free again!

Truck almost unloaded. Thank goodness my sis-in-law was there to help.

The Florida room is full!

Storing excess furniture in one of my brother's spare reefer trailers.

Me, happy that's all done!

Oh crap! How am I gonna get high-speed internet back here?
Tried 'em all. No one would do it. Cost too much. Hmmmmmm.
Cable was recently added down at the road, but they won't
bring it back to us unless we pay them $24,000.00. Ya, right.
Well, I am a high-speed internet junky and I HAVE to have it!
After negotiating with them, I agreed to dig the trench. They
would have to install big 'ole "hardline". Because of the
distance, regular coax won't do. Hardline is an inch thick!
OK folks, let's find a trencher to rent (not an easy task) and
get to work! It only took 3 months to negotiate. :-S Remember,
the corn was only 3 inches high when I arrived, look at it now!

Home with the Ditch Witch.

OK, we've got 24 hours or if we get it done tonight it's 1/2 price!

This is where I want the cable box, so let's start here.

It's only 1500 feet to the road, so let's get going!

Oh crap! What do all these do?

After some trial and error, we're on our way.

Wow, this makes quick work of dirt and rocks!

Time to turn to miss the corn.

OK we missed the gas line, now turn down alongside the lane.

Made it!

The flags indicate where the Phone and Power lines are buried.
We have to be VERY careful to miss them!

When was the last time YOU walked backwards for 1/4 mile????

Almost there

Very near the end now!

DONE!

Looking from the house to the road. Now to return the Ditch
Witch and call the cable guy to get the new cable in the
ground before it rains.

He actually showed up the next morning!

Can you believe he pulled it the whole way by hand! That dude
had some muscles! And he JUST made it before it rained. Whew!

No wonder the phone quit working.... :-S Oops!

Starting the repair.

Me with my telephone repair guy hat on, hehehe.

There. Good as new!

Now we have to push all the dirt back in the hole.

My dirt-pusher-attachment invention. Worked pretty good hehehe.

5 days later the guy finally shows up to wire it into the system
down at the road.

Another week goes by and the guys shows up to put in the cable
terminal box outside the house.

2 more freekin' weeks go by and the last guy finally shows
up to hook up the cable box and router and get things going
and we're FINALLY in business!!! 10mbs glorious D/L speed! Call
the dial-up people and cancel! Woo Hoo!!!!

God gives us a beautiful sunset to help celebrate.
